[...] I’m really excited about this, and not just because I like carrots. We’re launching two new NBN pages, a map and a calendar. These were the top two wishlist items from last week’s poll. [...]

I have to agree with Nuthatch that the ScienceBlogs blogs really dominate the toplist, sort of making the top 10 redundant. On the other hand, if you know that's the case, then you can take that into account when assessing your position. Perhaps we could note their special status with a particular symbol beside their name or something? The primary downside of their inclusion is that people who only browse the frontpage of the toplist are really only exposed to 30 independent blogs, rather than 40.

Birdfreak, it's funny you should say that. There's been a long discussion about how to better categorize the toplist in an earlier post. I'm not sure if a concrete resolution was reached yet.

Marge, certainly there're a lot of good things about the blog as it is! Although I don't like to speak for all the NBN crew, I think we're hoping that the NBN blog and site will become a more dynamic, community-oriented place rather than just somewhere that lists other blogs in the blogosphere. We'd like it to be helpful and interesting to other bloggers, and part of that is finding out what other bloggers would find most helpful and interesting.

Maybe also some subcategories to help boost the egos of blogs that are in more specific niches. Might also help people find blogs that are newer or less "popular".

Not really a feature, but how about a Top List for blogs not affiliated with ScienceBlogs? Not that they are not terrific, but they have a hit advantage over standalone blogs as part of a large network marketed by Seed.
