So, my big plans for a post on nature blogs from New Zealand met with the reality of there being no nature blogs from New Zealand in the NBN. Perhaps, then, I should have thrown the invitation open to Old Zealanders, who must be fed up with the attention those upstarts in the southern hemisphere have been getting vis-à-vis hobbits. I’m sure my inbox would have been stuffed. Oh well.
So, the networking post is taking the week off in preparation of a much bigger theme.
For those with a mind for nature, whose eyes are always tuned to the unusual or interesting, it matters not whether you’re enjoying a magnificent vista or some bizarre example of deep-sea life, nature is fascinating in its myriad forms. While many of us take trips specifically with a mind to get out in the nature and write about it, the vast majority of nature observation is done at home simply because that’s where we are most of the time. And for a subset of bloggers, that’s their bread and butter. So for the next couple weeks we’ll be looking at the Backyard bloggers in the NBN.
There are many in this category, so I’ll be splitting them up into two groups; North Americans bloggers and everybody else.
As always, if you’d like your blog included, let me know at naswick (at) gmail (dot) com.
Til next week!

Grin, that doesn’t make me feel so bad then, since I was the only one in “my” country for a few times
Don’t feel bad, maybe they are just taking a *uhm* summer break?
Hm, this sounds like a challenge. I do have one post on one Kiwi bird and am now persuaded to continue the narrative.
Haha, too funny, N8. That seems like something I’d do. I wonder why there aren’t any nature bloggers from there? Or at least, NBN members. There are lots from Australia and surrounds. And it’s such a gorgeous place.
There are actually two NZ nature bloggers in my blogroll. Maybe i should tell them to join.
It does seem odd that NZ bloggers aren’t aware of the NBN, at least they haven’t joined.
Dave, definitely get them involved! Perhaps this is a topic I can revisit in the future.
