Nature Blog Networking: A second look at Britain

When I featured British nature blogs several months ago I had a commenter mention that they were disappointed to miss the opportunity to be included.  So I decided to re-jump across the pond in the hope that I could encourage a few of those disappointed British Nature bloggers to submit their blogs for inclusion in this week’s roundup.  That did not happen, but in looking through the top list searching for blogs to fill this spot, I found a veritable treasure trove of British nature bloggers waiting to be brought to the fore.  So many, in fact, that I’m splitting the group in two.  The first half to be included this week and the second next.

Nature Blog enthusiasts will thus be able to to double dip British blogs this week and the next.  Hope you enjoy!

–=====–

- The UK Wildlife Blog covers exactly what you’d expect.  Nice photos, content, and information about Great Britain’s wildlife.

- For fans of great nature photography, Quantum Tiger Wildlife Photography is well worth a visit.  Pro photog Ian Coleman has some beautiful shots of British birds, among other things.

- Local Birding for Local People focuses on the birdlife found around Richard’s local Staffordshire patch.  Good thing it typically appears to be pretty productive.

- You’ll find nice prose and thoughts about the natural world at Stand and Stare, Allan’s blog about Nothumberland, Durham and beyond.

- Also from Northunberland, which must be a particularly impressive area to inspire so many great nature bloggers, comes The Northumberland Naturalist.

- From the southern tip of Dorset comes Purbeck Footprints, where Julian spends as much time as possible at the intersection between land and sea.  It truly appears to be a beautiful place.

- Ever wondered if you can hack it out in the wild for a period of time?  If so, Jon’s Exmoor Bushcraft Blog and his wilderness school may have some tips for you.

- Mark Fellowes, of Pushing through the Undergrowth, is another impressive nature photographer who is so kind as to display his work online for the rest of the world to see and ogle.

- And if you haven’t had enough of great photographs of British birds (and I don’t want to hear it if you have), Bluebirder is another fine destination, this time based out of West Yorkshire.

- Also from Yorkshire, and also with some great photographs of common British birds is Little Brown Job.

- From Durham, and that’s Britain Durham, not the Durham in my neck of the woods, comes Cabinet of Curiosities, which is, just like it sounds, a nice mix of all sorts of cool nature related items from the area.  Birds, bugs, mammals.  It’s all covered.

No theme next week, I’ll be covering the rest of the NBN’s fine selection of British nature blogs.

Till then!
