Good of the Order: What’s New With You?

Sunday’s here at the Nature Blog Network Blog are perhaps the most free-form of days. I chose to call my postings on Sunday “Good of the Order” after the tradition found in many social organizations where anyone who had news to share with the community about themselves, their family, their job, or anything else thought to be of use or interest to the collective membership was invited to stand and report as they saw fit.

Thus I open the proverbial floor to the community. What is happening with you or your blog that you would like to bring to the attention of the general community of the Nature Blog Network? Recently been nominated for or presented with an award? Redesigned your site? Published an important article? Started a podcast? Saved a kitten stuck up in a tree? It’s up to you. Just let me know and I’ll either feature it or try to work it in somehow. Think of it as your own personal public relations freebie. Now how can you get a better offer than that?

This is a tremendous idea and one I hope the rest of the community takes advantage of! Let me kick off the festivities by announcing that this next week will be Review Week at 10,000 Birds. Our goal is to post one new bird/birding book or product review a day for at least the next seven days.

Wish us luck and be sure to stop by!

I posted a six-minute movie of a feeding porcupine, shot at close range, to my regular blog (which isn’t in the network since it’s not purely a nature blog). It won’t win any film awards, but it seemed to be a hit with the readership, most of whom are not “nature people” per se. http://www.vianegativa.us/2008/11/25/porcupine-in-a-tree/

Just spent two weeks in the Amazon working with macaws in Peru’s Tambopata Nature Reserve as a volunteer for Earthwatch Institute.
