My brief and far-from-scientifically-valid survey last week elicited the information that flickr and facebook were the two most used and best liked social networking tools by nature bloggers. Interestingly, Facebook was slightly more used in this sample but flickr slightly more favored.
It makes sense, as photos and nature blogging are natural partners. To make it easier for network members to share photos (we all have more than we can blog) as well as to bring more attention to our member blogs, we’ve started a flickr group for NBN members. The only requirement for joining is that you be an NBN member and display the badge on your blog. We’ll be putting a widget in the sidebar to share photos from the group at random, so be sure to sign up if you want to be included in that.
My colleague, the Born-Again Birdwatcher posted about the group last Sunday (Good of the Order: NBN Flickr Group) and my other colleague, N8, listed some of our outstanding photoblog members in his post Nature Blog Networking: What a picture is worth on Tuesday. Check out these posts and the pool itself, and sign up to share your photos. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your good work.
To those of celebrating Thanksgiving today, best wishes for both a great day and also for you to have many good things in your life for which to give thanks.
