Meetings and Field Trips
Dawn of Dawn’s Bloggy Blog has been busy organizing another Birders who Blog, Chirp or Tweet outing. The field trip will take place August 28 – NEXT SATURDAY, at the Charlestown Breachway and Ninigret Tidal Flats in Charlestown, Rhode Island. BwBCT events are always great fun – it’s a wonderful opportunity not only to bird someplace new, but also to meet many fellow bloggers/twitterers. Think you might like to join in? More details about the outing are posted at Dawn’s blog here, where you can also RSVP your interest in the comments.
Member feedback
Sibylle of Saving Snow Leopards has been writing her blog for nearly two years, and enjoys swapping ideas with other bloggers. She’s looking for feedback from other members on how bloggers go about getting their readers excited in the topics they write about. The responses she receives will go into a post on her blog discussing the topic. Have some good ideas, or think you’ve hit on a way to get your readers to share your passion? Let Sibylle know what you think! Email her at snowleopardblog(at)gmail.com.
Have you seen a dragonfly swarm in your area over the last few months? If so, The Dragonfly Woman wants to hear from you! Chris is conducting research on dragonfly swarming behavior in the US and Canada and is collecting reports from people who have seen them. If you have seen a swarm and wish to contribute to her database, please visit her Contact page, read the notice at the bottom of the page for a list of information she is interested in, and submit your report. This has been an amazing year for dragonfly swarming behavior and we may never see this level of activity again. She’s posted a fascinating write-up on some recent research into migratory dragonfly behaviour using radio transmitters, which is worth a read, and there’s more information there about her study, as well.
Contests and Promotions
Amber of Birder’s Lounge is continuing her photo ID challenge for 2010 under the name Challenge for Charity. Try your hand at identifying a series of photos; the person with the most correct receives a $10 donation to the charity of their choice.
